15 free hours Childcare per week

570 hours free childcare per year is available for all 3 and 4-year-olds in England. For school nursery pupils, this is usually taken as 15 hours a week for 38 weeks of the year.

30 hours Childcare per week funding

You may be able to get up to 30 hours free childcare per week if your child is 3 to 4 years old.  This is dependent on certain eligibility criteria. You will need to make an application and provide the school with your details and a code.

Employer-Supported Childcare & Tax-free Childcare per week funding

You can get up to £500 every 3 months (£2,000 a year) for each of your children to help with the costs of childcare.  In our school, this can be used for the breakfast or after school club and our holiday clubs.

If you get Tax-Free Childcare, the government will pay £2 for every £8 you pay your childcare provider. This is paid via an online childcare account that you set up for your child.

Although employer-supported childcare is now closed to new applicants, parents registered on it will be able to continue to use it for as long as their employer offers it.

You can get Tax-Free Childcare at the same time as 30 hours free childcare if you are eligible for both.

Your eligibility depends on:

  • if you are working
  • how much you earn
  • your child’s age and circumstances
  • your nationality

Your partner’s employment and income will affect your eligibility if you are:

  • married or in a civil partnership and live together
  • not married or in a civil partnership, but living together as though you are

It will not affect your eligibility if they:

  • are or will be absent from your household for more than 6 months
  • are a prisoner
